Srinagar, March 13 -- Police in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on Friday said that they have busted a fake currency circulation racket and recovered fake notes worth Rs 79,000 leading to the arrest of three accused persons including a Block Development Officer.

Police Station Shopian received a complaint from a local shopkeeper stating therein that an individual has used fake currency notes while purchasing goods from his shop.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered at and investigation was taken up.

Police said acting promptly on the complaint, they initiated an investigation into the matter.
