Chandigarh, Jan. 24 -- In Jalandhar district, a tragic incident led to the death of a nine-year-old boy who fell into a deep pit dug in an agricultural field while chasing a kite, a day after heavy rainfall lashed the city on Basant Panchami.
According to information, several areas witnessed waterlogging due to heavy rain. Near the Suranusi petrol pump in the Maksuda area of Jalandhar, a farmer had dug a pit nearly 10 feet deep in his field to drain rainwater and safeguard crops. After the rain stopped in the afternoon, children from nearby localities went out to fly kites.
