New Delhi, April 10 -- Japan's Foreign Affairs Minister Motegi Toshimitsu held a telephonic conversation with India's counterpart S Jaishankar on Friday, during which both leaders discussed the evolving situation in West Asia, with a focus on de-escalation efforts and ensuring the safety of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

The conversation began at 1:45 pm and lasted for approximately 20 minutes.

In view of the current tensions in the Middle East, Motegi expressed condolences over the casualties among Indian nationals.
