Shimla, April 27 -- Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, alleging that the state was witnessing a complete breakdown of law and order.

Talking to mediapersons in Mandi, Thakur said the present government was in a "state of deep slumber" and claimed that criminals no longer feared the police or the law.

He expressed serious concern over what he described as a sharp rise in heinous crimes across the state, adding that the recent surge had "broken all previous records" in Himachal's history.
