New Delhi, March 29 -- Iran has allowed 20 more ships under Pakistani flag to pass through the choked Strait of Hormuz, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Sunday.

Two ships will cross the Strait daily, he said on X.

''I am pleased to share a great news that the Government of Iran has agreed to allow 20 more ships under the Pakistani flag to pass through the Strait of Hormuz,'' Dar said.

Describing it as ''harbinger of peace'' and a ''welcome and constructive gesture'' by Iran which deserves appreciation, Dar said the step will help usher stability in the region.
