New Delhi, Oct. 1 -- In the financial year 2024-2025, a total of 313 children with special needs were adopted, an encouraging step towards more inclusive and compassionate child care.

However, the data reveals a stark contrast: while 83 children were adopted within India, 230 were adopted by families abroad - nearly three times higher than domestic adoptions.

This disparity reflects a growing international willingness to embrace children with special needs, while also highlighting the urgent need to strengthen awareness and acceptance within India for adopting children who may require additional care and support.
