New Delhi, March 31 -- : India's largest airline, IndiGo, on Tuesday announced the appointment of William Walsh, pilot and current head of the global airline body IATA, as its next CEO.
His appointment comes shortly after the abrupt exit of Pieter Elbers, following major operational disruptions in December.
An aviation industry veteran, Walsh, popularly known as Willie, previously served as CEO of British Airways and IAG (International Airlines Group), which owns Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, Level, and Vueling.
Announcing Walsh as its new CEO, subject to regulatory approvals, IndiGo said in a release that his IATA tenure ends on July 31, with joining expected by August 3.
