Chennai, Feb. 27 -- The Indian Navy plans to become 200 plus ships force by 2035 and 50 ships that have been ordered are being built in Indian shipyards, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi said here on Friday.
Speaking after commissioning the 'Dolphin Hunter' warship INS Anjadip, an anti-submarine shallow watercraft, at the Chennai Port here, he said the Indian Navy has embraced Aatmanirbharta not only as a strategic imperative but also as an investment towards future assurance.
He said Currently the Indian Navy has a fleet strength of 140-150 vessels and it targets to become 200 plus ship force by 2035 with 50 ships that have been ordered are under construction at Indian shipyards.
