New Delhi, Aug. 16 -- India today welcomed the summit meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska to find a way out of the Ukraine conflict, and appreciated the progress made at the summit.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal also said that the world wants to see an early end to the Ukraine conflict.

The statement reads: "India welcomes the Summit meeting in Alaska between US President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin of Russia. Their leadership in the pursuit of peace is highly commendable.

"The way forward can only be through dialogue and diplomacy. The world wants to see an early end to the conflict in Ukraine."
