New Delhi, May 7 -- India on Thursday sought Dhaka's cooperation on the deportation of illegal Bangladeshi nationals, pointing out that more than 2,862 nationality-verification cases unresolved for over five years are clogging the repatriation issue, while also pointing out that the Teesta water sharing deal can only be through established bilateral mechanisms.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, responding to journalists' queries during a weekly briefing, left little ambiguity about India's position and signalled zero tolerance on illegal immigration, stating, "Any foreign national staying illegally in India, without authorisation will be repatriated as per our laws, procedures, and established bilateral mecha...
