Washington, Feb. 4 -- The White House on Wednesday claimed that India has agreed to stop purchasing crude oil from Russia and will instead increase oil imports from the United States, and potentially Venezuela, as part of a newly announced India-US trade agreement.
Speaking to reporters outside the White House, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the commitment followed direct talks between US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom she said share a strong bilateral relationship.
"As you all saw yesterday, the President struck another great trade deal with India. He spoke with Prime Minister Modi directly; they share a very good relationship," she said.
