New Delhi, Nov. 24 -- India took up the case of an Arunachal Pradesh woman who was detained at Shanghai airport with Chinese authourities claiming that she should not have an Indian passport, "very strongly", sources here said.

Indian consulate at Shangahi as well as Indian officials in New Delhi made it clear to Chinese authorities that the passenger had been detained on "ludicrous grounds", adding that "Arunachal Pradesh is indisputably Indian territory, with its residents perfectly entitled to hold and travel with Indian passports".

Sources said that actions of the Chinese authorities were in contravention of the Chicago and Montreal Conventions relating to civil aviation.
