Geneva/New Delhi, Sept. 11 -- In a sharp rebuttal of Switzerland's remarks targeting India, at the UN Human Rights Council's 60th Session, New Delhi has termed the statement as "surprising, shallow, and ill-informed", and instead offered to help Bern address its own domestic issues like racism and xenophobia.

At the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) session in Geneva, during a general debate on human rights situations around the world, a Swiss delegate called on India to take effective measures to protect its minorities and to uphold freedom of expression and media rights. Switzerland holds the presidency of the UNHRC.
