Chennai, March 14 -- The primary function of the Indian satellite navigation system, called Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC), or simply the Indian GPS, is nearly defunct, as only three satellites are currently operational, and signals from them may not be available for 24 hours.
On Friday, 13 March, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) stated tersely that the IRNSS-1F satellite had completed its design mission life of 10 years on March 10, 2026.
IRNSS stands for Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System. The constellation system was later renamed NavIC.
