New Delhi, Jan. 27 -- India and the European union (EU) on Tuesday signed the Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

The ratification of the Agreement is likely to take another six months, clearing way for the pact to come into force in early 2027.

Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal described the pact as balanced and forward-looking from India's perspective, and said it would help deepen economic integration between the two sides.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal had previously described the India-EU FTA as the mother of all deals, calling the EU India's largest trading partner.
