New Delhi, Feb. 3 -- India has strongly condemned the vandalisation and removal of a statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Melbourne, calling on Australian authorities to take swift action to recover the statue and bring those responsible for the outrage to justice.

Responding to media queries, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the statue, located at the Australian Indian Community Centre in Rowville, was vandalised and removed by unidentified individuals.
