Pune, March 5 -- The ongoing conflict in the Middle East involving the United States, Israel, and Iran is directly affecting farmers and traders in Maharashtra, noted social activist Hemant Patil said here on Thursday.

Around 2,000 containers of bananas, grapes, and onions sent from the state for export are currently stuck at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), causing significant financial losses, he said in a statement.

In this situation, both the central and state governments should urgently intervene, explore alternative routes for exports, and reduce the increased costs faced by exporters due to the war so that farmers and traders can receive relief, said Patil who is national president of India Against Corruption.
