IJA condemns FIR against journalist Ajit Anjum by Bihar Police

Hyderabad/Chandigarh, July 15 -- The Indian Journalists Union (IJU) today condemned the booking of an FIR against independent journalist Ajit Anjum by the Bihar police.

In a statement, IJU President K Sreenivas Reddy and Secretary General Balwinder Singh Jammu demanded immediate withdrawal of the FIR.

On July 13, Anjum posted a video on his YouTube channel claiming irregularities in the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of voters list in Bihar's Begusarai district. While the district administration dismissed the claim as baseless, police registered an FIR alleging that the video was intended to incite public sentiment.
