Shimla, Feb. 11 -- Doctors at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC), Shimla, have successfully performed a major stomach cancer surgery using a keyhole (laparoscopic) method for the first time.
The surgery was carried out on February 2 on a 44-year-old woman from Shimla. In the operation, doctors removed about 80 to 90 per cent of her stomach affected by cancer. The five to six-hour procedure was done through small cuts, without opening the stomach area fully.
