IGIPESS Women's Team Wins 12th Padma Shree Shyam Lal Memorial Hockey Title

New Delhi, Feb. 12 -- The Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences defeated defending champions Delhi University Alumna 8-7 in sudden death after a closely contested match to win the women's title of the 12th Padma Shree Shyam Lal Memorial Hockey Tournament.

Yashasvi from the winning team received the Player of the Match award.

In the final, played at the Shyam Lal College ground the match between Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences (IGIPESS) and Delhi University Alumna locked 2-2 in regulation time. In the tie-breaker, both teams scored five goals each, making the score 7-7. The match was then decided in sudden death, where IGIPESS clinched the victory 8-7 to secure the title.
