Tel Aviv, Aug. 7 -- Israeli military commander Chief of Staff Lt. Gen Eyal Zamir, making his first comments on Thursday since Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statement on capturing Gaza, said that the Israeli Defence Forces have a culture of open debate, and will "continue to express our position without fear."
Just a few hours before the critical security cabinet meeting on Thursday, Zamir said at a situational assessment, "we are dealing with matters of life and death, in the defence of the country, and we do so while looking toward our soldiers and the civilians of Israel. We will continue to act with responsibility, integrity, and determination - with only the security and well-being of Israel in mind," reports Jerusalem Post.
