Mumbai, July 9 -- For the first time in history, members of the Other Backward Classes (OBC) will be eligible for reservation in the recruitment of staff at the Supreme Court of India. India Against Corruption's National President and prominent OBC leader Hemant Patil expressed his gratitude today to Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai for this landmark decision.

Until now, the recruitment process at the Supreme Court only provided reservations for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). There was no clear provision for OBCs. However, under the new arrangement, reservations will be applied based on posts, and the move has been hailed as a historic step towards social justice.
