Washington, Jan. 21 -- US President Donald Trump has rejected French President Emmanuel Macron's call for an emergency G7 meeting, amid growing tensions between Washington and its European allies over Trump's push to acquire Greenland.
Trump said he would not attend a proposed meeting of G7 leaders to discuss the war in Ukraine. The meeting had been suggested by Macron, though the French leader later clarified that no such gathering would take place this week.
Speaking to reporters after completing the first year of his second term, Trump questioned Macron's political future while explaining his decision. "No, I wouldn't do that. because Emmanuel is not going to be there very long and there's no longevity there," he said.
