Hyderabad, Aug. 15 -- Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy hoisted the national flag at Golconda Fort on Friday as the state marked the 79th Independence Day with patriotic fervour.

The celebrations began with a ceremonial parade, cultural tableaux depicting the freedom struggle, and performances highlighting Telangana's achievements.

Earlier in the morning, the CM paid floral tributes at the Army War Memorial in Secunderabad and unfurled the national flag at his residence.

Addressing the gathering at Golconda, he paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr B R Ambedkar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and countless martyrs, and recalled the sacrifices of Telangana statehood activists.
