Hyderabad, Dec. 12 -- Hyderabad Commissioner of Police V C Sajjanar, on Friday announced that drug offenders and peddlers in the city will now be monitored with the same intensity and vigilance applied to history-sheeters, signalling a major shift in the city's anti-narcotics strategy.

Speaking at a high-level coordination meeting on narcotics control held at the Telangana Command and Control Centre in Banjara Hills, the Commissioner said the police department is committed to dismantling the drug network operating in Hyderabad.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from central and state agencies including the IB, DRI, NCB, Excise Department, Counter Intelligence, EAGLE teams and the FRRO.
