Hyderabad, Aug. 5 -- The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), in a joint operation with Amberpet Police, have arrested a drug peddler and seized 21 kg of poppy husk along with other materials worth Rs 3.5 lakh.
The accused, identified as Mangala Ram (44), a native of Rajasthan and resident of Chengicherla, was apprehended under the NDPS Act when he attempted to sell the contraband in Amberpet. Police also seized a mixer grinder, weighing machines, mobile phones, and a motorcycle during the operation.
According to a police statement on Tuesday, Mangala Ram procured poppy husk from his native village in Rajasthan at a low price and sold it in Hyderabad for profit to fund his addiction and earn easy money.
