Hyderabad, Jan. 12 -- A 38-year-old resident of Asifnagar in Hyderabad fell victim to an online trading fraud and lost Rs 27.05 lakh after being lured through a fake mobile application and a WhatsApp investment group.
According to the complaint, the victim first came across an online trading page on Facebook and was later added to a WhatsApp group, where the administrators promised high returns and shared fabricated screenshots showing hefty profits.
The victim was persuaded to download a trading application named ADVPMA and initially invested Rs 10,000.
Encouraged by what appeared to be rising profits on the app, he went on to invest a total of Rs 27,05,000.
