Hyderabad, March 25 -- The Telangana Goshala Federation (TGF) on Wednesday urged the state government to take pre-emptive measures and ensure strict enforcement of animal preservation laws ahead of the Bakri-Id festival in May.
In a memorandum submitted to the Governor, Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and senior officials, the Federation called for proactive steps to prevent illegal cattle transport and slaughter, citing provisions of the Telangana Cow Slaughter Prohibition and Animal Preservation Act, 1977.
Led by its Honorary President Mahesh Agarwal, the Federation stressed the need to balance communal harmony with adherence to legal and constitutional provisions, including Article 48.
