Hyderabad, Jan. 2 -- Doctors at KIMS Kondapur Hospital successfully treated a rare pancreatic tumor in a 55-year-old woman from Mauritius who was suffering from recurrent episodes of fainting due to dangerously low blood sugar levels.

As the condition required a highly complex surgical procedure, doctors in Mauritius referred her to Hyderabad for advanced treatment, the hospital said in a release here on Friday.

The woman had been experiencing sudden dizziness and loss of consciousness whenever she delayed meals.

Medical investigations revealed that she was suffering from insulinoma, a rare pancreatic tumor that produces excess insulin, leading to severe hypoglycemia.
