Hurdle cleared for construction of cruise terminal in Kashi

Varanasi, May 5 -- Preparations are underway to develop Kashi as a major international water transport hub, and in this regard, the hurdle has been cleared for the construction of the long-awaited Cruise Terminal.

The Municipal Corporation's Executive Committee has given its in-principle, conditional consent to the transfer of two acres of land at Samne Ghat to the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI).

The condition is that the Authority must pay rent for this valuable land based on the District Magistrate's Circle Rate; otherwise, one floor of the terminal building to be constructed will be allotted to the Municipal Corporation. This will increase the Corporation's revenue and ensure proper monetization of government assets.
