Shimla, March 30 -- The district-wide vaccination campaign against Human Papillomavirus began in Shimla on Sunday, with 221 adolescent girls receiving the vaccine on the first day at 39 Cold Chain Points (CCPs) established across the district.

According to the Health Department, the vaccination drive was conducted smoothly with the support of field staff and health workers. However, the expected turnout was somewhat affected due to inclement weather in several parts of the district.

Statewide, a total of 1,992 girls were vaccinated on the first day of the campaign through 336 vaccination centres set up across Himachal Pradesh.
