Shimla, March 27 -- Battling crash constraints, the Himachal Pradesh Government has decided to tap new revenue resources by introducing a new legislation proposing amendment in the state revenue Act to levy environment cess.

The amendment also has provisions for payement and recovery of revenue in the left out estate lands of the state.

Talking to UNI, revenue minister Jagat Singh Negi stated that the legislation aims to tap the additional revenue by amending the definition of the land owner in section 4(9) of the HP Land revenue amendment bill 2025.

He said in the new section 63A provision of levying environment cess upto two percent of the assessed revenue earned by the entity is proposed.
