Shimla, March 17 -- In a significant administrative decision ahead of the upcoming Budget session, the Himachal Pradesh government on Tuesday withdrew the "cabinet rank" status granted to chairpersons, vice-chairpersons and other political appointees across various boards, corporations and commissions.

An official communication issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) stated that the decision was taken to "streamline administrative protocol."The order, issued by the Chief Secretary to all Administrative Secretaries, said the cabinet rank accorded to authorities such as chairmen, vice-chairmen, deputy chairmen, principal advisors and political advisors stands withdrawn with immediate effect.
