New Delhi/Shimla, Feb. 13 -- The Himachal Pradesh government has filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court of India, challenging a High Court directive to conduct Panchayat and urban local body elections before April 30, 2026.
The matter is scheduled for a preliminary hearing to decide whether the apex court will admit the SLP. During an earlier listing, certain objections were reportedly raised at the pre-admission stage.
The Himachal Pradesh High Court had ordered the state to issue the reservation roster by February 28 and ensure elections to Panchayati Raj institutions and urban local bodies are completed by the end of April.
