Chandigarh, Feb. 10 -- Renewed hope and a sense of relief spread through the family of Amrit Pal Singh, an Indian national lodged in a Pakistani jail, after reports indicated that his release may be imminent following completion of his sentence.

Amrit Pal Singh, a resident of Khare Ke Uttar village near Jalalabad in Punjab's Fazilka district, had inadvertently crossed the international border on June 21 last year. He was subsequently detained by Pakistan Rangers and later produced before a court in Lahore, which sentenced him to a term of imprisonment.

According to family members, his sentence ended on December 26, 2025. They said they recently learned from media reports that his release is underway, which has brought hope to the family....
