Nashik, March 2 -- Amid unprecedented crowds triggered by Holi and consecutive holidays, Trimbakeshwar witnessed scenes of chaos on Sunday as temple authorities struggled to manage the surge of devotees.
What was meant to be a spiritual gathering, however, took a disturbing turn when a devotee was allegedly assaulted by security guards during a confrontation sparked by mounting crowd pressure.
Every year, devotees from across the country visit Trimbakeshwar during Holi, but this year the turnout has been significantly higher due to the extended holiday period. To streamline crowd movement, the temple administration had introduced a 'Mukhdarshan' facility for viewing the Pindi through the North Gate route.
