Nagpur, Jan. 16 -- AIMIM candidate Alisha Fahim Khan has won the Nagpur Municipal Corporation election from Ward No. 3. She is the wife of Fahim Khan, who was named as an accused in the Nagpur riots and is currently out on bail.
According to election results, three candidates of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) secured victories in Ward 3.
In the adjoining Ward 6, all four candidates of the Muslim League were declared elected.
The victory comes in the backdrop of communal violence that occurred in Nagpur following controversial statements related to Aurangzeb's grave, which led to tensions and subsequent riots.
