Bhopal, Feb. 15 -- The Kinnar Dharm Sammelan held on Sunday on the occasion of Mahashivratri witnessed the ceremonial 'pattaabhishek' (formal installation) of Himangi Sakhi as Bharat's first transgender Shankaracharya, amid chanting of Vedic mantras and traditional rituals.
Organisers announced that Pushkar Peeth has been designated as the country's first transgender Shankaracharya Peeth. The event was attended by Kinnar Akhara founder Rishi Ajay Das, members of the transgender community from various states, monks, and a large number of followers.
