Shimla, Feb. 24 -- Facing mounting fiscal pressure ahead of the 2026-27 Budget, the Himachal Pradesh government has stepped up efforts to strengthen its tax base, particularly after the discontinuation of Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG) by the Centre.

According to state government sources, the State Tax and Excise Department has amended the Central Sales Tax (Himachal Pradesh) Rules, 1970, introducing stricter provisions regarding the submission of C-Forms. Under the amended rules, taxpayers who delay the submission of C-Forms will now face penalties.
