Shimla, April 21 -- The Himachal Pradesh state election commission has announced that Urban Local Body elections would be held on May 17.

Addressing media persons here on Tuesday, State Election Commissioner, Anil Khachi said that the election for the 51 ULBs will be held on May 17 in a single phase.

He said that the model code of conduct will come into immediate effect with the announcement of the elections.

He said that the polls will cover four Municipal Corporations - Solan, Mandi, Dharamshala and Palampur - along with 25 Municipal Councils (Nagar Parishads) and 22 Nagar Panchayats.

A total of 449 wards will go to polls in these ULBs.
