Shimla, Feb. 6 -- Himachal Pradesh Economic Advisor Vinod Kumar Rana has said that the state has been receiving Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG) under Article 275(1) of the Constitution since its inception, and it has been continuously receiving it since 1990.
He cautioned that under the recommendations of the XVI Finance Commission RDG would be completely withdrawn after March 2026, which is likely to leave the state finances severely destabilised.
Talking to UNI, Rana said RDG was constitutionally built into India's fiscal framework to support states with weak revenue bases, and Himachal Pradesh has depended on this mechanism for more than three decades.
