Shimla, Feb. 10 -- Himachal Pradesh Police have initiated strict action against vehicles with illegally altered number plates and non-standard tyres, announcing fines ranging between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

The move comes after receiving multiple complaints regarding unsafe and unlawful vehicle modifications across the state.

Recently, a heavily modified Alto car was penalised in Hamirpur, following which the state police headquarters issued clear instructions to all district superintendents of police to intensify enforcement.
