Shimla, Feb. 23 -- Himachal Pradesh has approved the launch of the Indira Gandhi Matri Shishu Sankalp Yojna (IGMSSY) with an outlay of Rs 207.11 crore to strengthen maternal and child health services and address malnutrition.
The scheme is expected to benefit 2,99,488 children and women across the state.
IGMSSY aims to improve the nutritional status of children aged six months to six years, as well as pregnant women and lactating mothers, by ensuring access to enhanced supplementary nutrition. The programme will provide adequate calories, high-quality protein and essential micronutrients through scientifically designed, nutrient-dense and fortified food premixes in line with revised Government of India nutrition norms.
