Shimla, Aug. 13 -- Illegal mining in Himachal Pradesh has come under tighter scrutiny, with the Industries Department imposing penalties of over Rs 44 lakh in four months.
Himachal Pradesh Industries, Director, Dr. Yunus said that the crackdown, backed by more than 900 inspections across districts in the state, aims to protect environmental balance, safeguard water sources, and prevent revenue loss to the state.
He stressed that illegal mining not only results in unregulated exploitation of mineral resources but also poses serious threats to environmental balance, conservation of water sources, and protection of public infrastructure.
