Shimla, Aug. 9 -- Himachal Pradesh High Court has come to the aid of a newly-married couple, directing the Superintendent of Police, Sirmaur, and the Station House Officer, Nahan, to consider their request for protection and take appropriate action.
The division bench of Chief Justice G.S. Sandhawalia and Justice Ranjan Sharma passed the order on August 7 while hearing a petition under Article 226 of the Constitution, seeking protection of the couple's life and personal liberty.
The petitioners - Salman Khan, 20, and his 17-year-old wife - stated they married on July 30, 2025, in Khizrabad, Yamuna Nagar, Haryana, according to Islamic rites, out of their own free will but without family consent.
