Shimla, Aug. 12 -- In a significant ruling, the Himachal Pradesh High Court has allowed writ petitions seeking enhancement of the retirement age of professors at Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College, Mandi at Ner Chowk, from 65 to 68 years.
Justice Sandeep Sharma passed the order on August 5 while deciding the petition of Dr. Susheela Rana, Professor and Head of the Anatomy Department, who challenged her retirement at 65 years despite state policies allowing extensions up to 68 years for certain faculty members.
Dr. Rana, initially deputed from IGMC Shimla in 2017 under an incentive scheme, was later absorbed as regular faculty and promoted to professor.
