Shimla, March 23 -- Himachal Pradesh Government would not withdraw charges for the "Him Bus Card," Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri told the State Assembly on Monday, asserting that the system is essential to regulate concessional travel in HRTC buses.
Replying to a query raised by BJP MLAs Sudhir Sharma and Vipin Singh Parmar during Question Hour, the Deputy CM said the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has so far collected around Rs 4.72 crore as service charges from the Him Bus Card. He noted that the corporation simultaneously extended a 50 per cent fare concession of Rs 82.27 Cr to nearly 4.91 crore women passengers over the past year, imposing a substantial financial burden.
