Shimla, March 31 -- The Himachal Pradesh government will process surplus milk into ghee and sell it at affordable prices instead of sending the excess produce to other states, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced in the Assembly on Tuesday.

He said the move aims to ensure timely payments to milk producers and further strengthen the dairy sector in the state.

Responding to a query raised by MLA Satpal Singh Satti during the Question Hour, the Chief Minister said that the recent increase in milk procurement prices by the government has encouraged more people to take up dairy farming, resulting in higher milk production across the state.
