Shimla, Feb. 6 -- The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to cover the cost of internet connections installed at the residences of eligible government officials to promote faster administration and greater accountability. Orders to this effect were issued on Thursday.
Under the new guidelines, officials who have installed broadband, internet connectivity, or other internet-based communication facilities at their residences will now be entitled to reimbursement, similar to the existing telephone and mobile phone allowance. Previously, such allowances were limited to official landline or mobile connections, as per instructions issued in 2010.
