Shimla, Jan. 17 -- Himachal Pradesh government has approved an ambitious project aimed at strengthening pastoral livelihoods while promoting ecological conservation in Himachal Pradesh.

The initiative, titled "Sustainable Small Ruminant and Empowered Himalayan Shepherds under Pastoralists Employment in Himalayan Ecosystems for Livelihoods (PEHEL)", is part of the state government's broader vision of "Vyavastha Parivartan" articulated by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

The government seeks inclusive development for traditional communities and sustainable management of the state's fragile mountain ecosystems, an official said.
